Dr Fiona Clements – Psychologist

Dr Fiona Clements is a senior counselling psychologist working within the NHS alongside her private practice at Oxford Mind & Body. As a counselling psychologist, Fiona’s practice is rooted in humanistic values that prioritise the therapeutic relationship, building a trusting and safe environment where clients can feel understood, validated and accepted.

Fiona has experience working in adult mental health delivering evidence-based treatments for various mental health challenges including depression; anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Panic Disorder; Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); Low Self-Esteem and Perfectionism. Fiona currently works within adult eating disorders delivering specialist assessment, formulation and NICE-recommend evidence-based treatments for eating disorders including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E, CBT-ED, CBT-T) and the Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA).

Fiona is an HCPC registered psychologist and a BABCP accredited CBT therapist. She has also completed her Level 1 Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) accredited training. In adopting a formulation-based approach, Fiona is able to tailor the therapy to meet our clients’ needs and goals. Fiona employs a range of therapeutic modalities she has trained in, including third-wave CBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Systemic and Developmental Lifespan approaches.

Fiona’s postgraduate research focused on the experiences of family caregivers who care for children with developmental disabilities. Her doctoral research focused on the experiences of cyberbullying in adults with intellectual disabilities, with the hope of supporting the management of online risk while promoting online inclusion for people with disabilities. Consequently, Fiona is very experienced in working with both adults and children who find verbal communication challenging at times, and might prefer more creative ways of communicating such as through art, play and written work.
