Dr Xanthe Wolter-Ferguson

Dr Xanthe Wolter-Ferguson is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC. Xanthe offers individual therapy for adults facing a wide range of psychological difficulties. She has experience of working privately and in the third sector, and also within the NHS.

Xanthe draws on pluralistic and integrative principles, bringing together ideas from CBT, psychodynamic, and existential-phenomenological approaches. Xanthe works collaboratively with her clients to develop an understanding of their difficulties and to find ways forward that feel meaningful and sustainable.

Xanthe’s approach is relational and compassionate, with a focus on the difficulties identified at assessment and also those that emerges within the therapeutic relationship, with the aim of promoting change. Xanthe aims to provide a space where clients feel understood and supported, and where their experiences are explored rather than pathologised.

Xanthe has particular experience working with anxiety, depression, body image concerns, trauma, perfectionism, relationship issues, OCD, chronic illness, and questions around gender and sexuality. Xanthe’s doctoral research explored bisexuality and substance use, informing her interest in identity, diversity, and the impact of stigma on wellbeing.
